My Cross Country Run 2016

Yesterday the 11th of may the whole of pohutukawa and the seniors did cross country.  First some people were feeling nervous that includes me, I had a sore tummy.  My classroom got called to line up outside of our classroom.  When had to go out of the school grounds but not far.

The year five boys were at the start line.  A teacher said GO!. The boys raced off down the hill and across the road and around the corner then disappeared out of sight.  The year five girls lined up at the start. We had to wait a few minutes for the boys, my tummy was still sore like it was full of butterflies but I was also excited. GO! said a teacher, the girls and I raced down the hill but I jogged and paced myself so I save some of my energy

At first I was coming 4 but then I started to catch up, I passed one of them.  Then the other two kids started to slow down I past them too I was coming first.  I started getting a stitch, but I pushed myself and said to myself “Never give up”.  It started to get hard to breath so I walked for 5 seconds then carried on.

Now I was by the down hill bit some people said “you're the first girl keep it up”,  so I pushed myself a bit more. I past most of the boys I looked back I saw my friend so I jogged a little faster.  A few minutes later I saw the finish line but I hadn't gone past it yet so I kept going.  There were people clapping and cheering.  When I past the finish line I was so glad it was over.  I was First.

I felt surprised but happy because  last year I had come second and it was my friend who had beat me, but this time I bet her.
